Did you know that there are over 10,000 known computer viruses out there and over 200 new viruses are found every month.  Often the first signs of an infected machine, are general slowness on a machine, applications taking longer to load or running slow, extra hard drive activity, system resources and CPU constantly in use, as well as files and programs disappearing.

 

Computer Viruses can cause all sorts of problem the most serious involve deleting files, causing panic especially if files needed to run Windows are deleted.  This may mean at worst Windows fails to load and a recovery or re-installation is required.  Boot sector viruses can cause even further problems also ensuring windows does not load.   

 

Worm Viruses are very common, here the virus arrives in an infected file most likely from an email.  Clicking on the attachment can cause the worm to become activated especially on a machine that has not been patched with Windows Updates and no virus software on. Worm Viruses generally have two things in mind and that is to populate and infect as many machines as possible, and to do this will send out automatic emails sent in your name to people in your address book.  The second thing a Worm Virus can do is allow your machine to be remote controlled without your consent, allowing a hacker full control to do as they please with your machine.

 

However, it is not all doom and gloom, getting rid of virus problems, is one of the things I can help with and can involve editing registry keys, this can often cause headaches to even the most advanced PC user. 

 

For every virus created there is also a way to fix the problem.  Not only will I remove the virus from your machine, I will also fully patch your machine to prevent virus problems from entering your machine, I will then advise you how to ensure your machine is kept fully updated. 

 

A Full Virus Detect and Repair service is available, this will involve the following:-

 

1. Remove the virus that has been detected

2. If no virus has been detected I will run a full virus scan on the machine.

3. If no virus software is on the machine I will install, configure and run a full virus scan on the machine.

4. Ensuring that Windows Critical Updates have been fully applied to the machine to prevent any possible loopholes.

5.  I will then advise of a good Firewall if one is not present install and configure if required.

6.  On-going Maintenance Support and advice will then be given on how to maintain a virus free system.
